Journal 7: Collaborative Documents
The tool that I researched while on Classroom 2.0 was collaborative documents.Collaborative documents are forums where students can work together and share ideas on projects from their own computers and personal convenience. The forum that I researched was “Wiki or Google Docs”. Kendra Larmour wants to incorporate some kind of collaborative site so her students can work together on projects. Both sites allow students to contribute and work together on projects but allowing them to do it from their own homes or computers. Larmour asked for comments on the difference between Wiki and Google Docs and wanted to know which would be best to use in her class. Some peoples comments were that using Google Docs was a great way for collaboration and each member of the group could be working on it at the same time but sometimes it can be hard to distinguish who did what part of the project. A resolution to this problem and stated by assigning colors to the group members to see who did what. Others said that Wiki was a great choice because the revisions made show in the history but only one member could be on at a time. After reading over all of the comments the majority was Google Docs for collaborative work this seems to be the most beneficial to the groups. This was the first time that I have used Classroom 2.0 and I can see why this is such a useful site. With technology emerging in the classroom at a rapid pace this allows teachers to ask questions and work together on finding the most beneficial sites or tools for their classrooms.

I really liked Google Docs because when we were creating our projects it was the best way for us to put everything together without actually being together. This would work great for classroom projects in the future... especially as us being team-teachers (:
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great tool because it makes it so easy to collaborate with others. You no longer after to create a time for everyone to meet with each other, you can just do it all over the internet.
ReplyDeleteI also read about Google Docs in an article on Classroom 2.0. I love using Google Docs!!! I think it is such an awesome invention and is something that I as a student have used countless times for any sort of group work in which one document can be shared.
ReplyDeleteGoogle docs is a great program for students who are working together on a school assignment and a great place to save your documents online, so they can be using anywhere. The color coding each individuals work could come in handy for grading purposes also. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI agree that Classroom 2.0 is definately a great way to learn for teachers as you can discuss matters with them and you can learn from them as well. I also agree that google docs is amazing! I have got a lot of group work done with it this semester. It certainly made some things easier, and also everyone can use it, even if you have a mac! and things don't change! its fab! :)
